July 15, 2012 SOUTHBRIDGE — The town is receiving just under $500,000 for road and bridge projects this year, not including block grants for downtown and funds being sought for tornado-related drainage improvements on Charlton and Brookside.
According to DPW Director Thomas Daley, the sum ($486,642) is "around what we got last year" from the state's distribution of money under Chapter 90. He described it as "a great number."
"We've got to finish the pavement analysis," a project to set priorities by seeing which roads would be the most effective use of funds, he said. "This is hot-button stuff we've got to really get working on."
