July 19, 2012 SOUTHBRIDGE — Summertime and the blues have long been companions on the American music scene, not only in southern venues like New Orleans and Memphis, but even up north. Take Boston Baked Blues, for example, a staple of New England's blues scene for more than two decades, and "still smokin' hot," according to a recent online fan posting.
The Boston Music Award-nominated band will be featured this Sunday, July 22, in the gazebo on Southbridge Common as part of this year's Concerts on the Common series.
The band is fronted and managed by blues harmonica wizard Vinny Serino, recently selected to the World of Harmonica (WOH) players list of most influential blues harmonica players. "The blues is nothing – the blues is everything," says Serino. "Old harmonica players never die … they just blow away."
