July 23, 2012 SOUTHBRIDGE — With the ongoing changes in the school district at various levels, it's no surprise there'd be a parallel change in the focus of the Parent-Teacher Association.
In the PTA's case, though, the shift is more like a resurgence of an idea that was once common in town: "Pride and positivity: Make tomorrow better starting today."
According to new President Jill Congdon, it's essentially a take-off from the long-established "Pioneer Pride." The PTA didn't want to duplicate that exactly because it helps fund the elementary schools rather than the middle/high school. The group does, however, want to "form a relationship with the middle/high school," by having older students mentoring younger, helping at events, giving tours and the like.
